About Robert

About image.jpg

Robert was born and raised in the small village of Gregson Lane in the northwest of England, a place so dear to his heart that despite moving away throughout the course of his life, he eventually settled there in his mid 20s, subsequently meeting his wife Nicola and raising two beautiful daughters.

Having completed a Psychology degree at the University of Liverpool, Robert moved to London, finding work for short stints as an incredibly unsuccessful door to door salesman, moderately accomplished crime analyst, and bang average computer programmer. Indeed, it was his ill-fated foray into the world of programming just as the dot.com bubble was primed to burst, that led to his return to the north of England.

After five years in the civil service Robert started what became his career in the police. Having always been an avid fan of crime fiction, it was perhaps unsurprising that his early passion for Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books and an infatuation with characters such as Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot would lead him into the detective arena.

Promotion followed entry into financial investigation as did a Masters Degree in Senior Leadership and it was during this period that he returned to the bare bones of a book he'd started writing in 2009. Inspired by informal creative writing sessions with Dr. Christine Eastman, the idea behind One Chance for Redemption was born.

Penned initially under a different working title, One Chance for Redemption is Robert's debut novel, featuring Detective Inspector Fennick Reeve who must untangle a web of organised crime and political corruption to unmask a murderer who is hiding in plain sight and is shockingly connected to his own past.
